Google Calender and iPod Touch, Finally able to Sync.
I have finally found something to sync my Google Calender with my iPod touch. After trialling MobileMe from Apple I was not prepared to pay £60 for the subscription. To me MobileMe is a complete waste of money, I am not going to go in to why but it is not worth a penny. I’d rather pay £60 to use Google Calender. However though you can not easily sync your Google Calender with the iPhone or iPod touch. This is because Apple does not allow third party applications from the app store to interface with the calender on the iPod.
The trick is using Microsoft Exchange and https://www.nuevasync.com/ which does all the work for you. The site is easy to sign up to and use, by being mobile friendly and once set up works exactly like Mobile Me, It syncs over the air in the background and syncs both ways. However there is one problem with it, if like me you pick up e-mail already from an exchange service (Uni E-mail) you can only use one or the other.
Woolies
It was a sort of sad day today, I was in the local Woolies helping my parents dismantle shelving that had been sold off to local business’s. The store still open and due to close in the next few days after xmas. It was next to empty and only a few bulk stock items and CDs and DVDs left on the few remaining shelfs. It was sad to see such a well known high street chain gutted from top to bottom and by the sounds of it this is just the first of many to go under.
To those to have there jobs on the line, Merry Christmas and hope the new year brings well being.
I couldn’t help thinking there are going to be alot more people out of work in the near future.

Virgin Media Launch 50Mbps Broadband
This month Virgin Media have launched their 50Mbps broadband service bringing a new level of broadband speed to the UK. The service will cost £51 with a rather high activation few of around 50 hard earned pounds, or its £35 when you have an £11 a month phone line. Virgin said the service will not have any download limits or bandwidth restrictions although this may change since Virgin have just changed their minds on “net neutrality” after a major change in its traffic management policy.
“The 50Mb service will allow users to download(4) an entire music album in as little as 11 seconds, a TV show in around one minute, a high quality movie in as little as 3 1/2 minutes and a high definition movie in around 15 minutes.” Virgin.
The speed in theory seems to be impressive but time will tell if users can actually reach speeds.

One Week To Go…
There is one more week of uni for me in 2008 left, which makes me half way though my second year… Scary! I’m not so much stressing out like most as I have planned ahead and I’m not doing my assignments last minute, which is a surprise. OK well one of them I have still got to do, The PED poster, I’m putting it off to be honest but I am half way through my Data Recovery Assignment! Yay!
I have had my final CCNA skills test which I didn’t think went well as I had a problem with the Frame-Relay connection which I think will hit me on marks but I haven’t had the confirmed marks back yet. Which brings me to placements, I have applied for a Cisco Internship. I think it’ll look great on my CV but I think I’ll learn so much if I get the job, I have my fingers crossed but I won’t hear back for a while I don’t think.
I have also got my car back from the body shop, a whole two weeks off the road, it was missed at 10am in the morning when it was freezing cold and I was walking to uni, but I have it back now and the work looks great! I have also had my wing mirror repaired from when it was hit during the first night on the road at my house.
I’m getting distracted by After Effects at the moment, I have seen some of its possibilities and thought I’d give a few tutorials ago!
