Windows Home Server

During the 9 months I forgot about this blog I invested in an operating system called Windows Home Server by Microsoft. I won’t go in to the features of the WHS but the main reason I got it was I found that I couldn’t fit all my data on one hard drive. WHS has a solution to this by pooling hard drives so basically you can have 3 hard drives appear as one.

Here is the spec of my server

Processor – AMD Athlon x2 4400+ 2.10Ghz
RAM -Crucial 512MB x 4
Main HDD – Maxtor DiamondMax 200GB IDE
Storage HDD – Samsung SpinPoint T 500GB SATA-II 16MB x 4
Other HDD – Hitachi Deskstar 80GB IDE

Its total storage is just over 2TB and is currently going to serve at my house in Stafford.

Over time I’m going to blog about my WHS, general goings on etc.
